What is your job ? 

My job is mainly to take out and prepare the material for the turners and millers to the right dimensions. I also have a computer part and some paper work to make sure that the quantities are correct and that the stock remains up to date. I also take care of goods receipt, checking that diameters and materials are correct. Once the material is recorded in stock, I can service production orders (POs) that were on hold due to lack of material. 

Do you do any other tasks apart from these? 

Yes, I do various little things in addition to my main job. My job is multi-skilled, so I help out wherever I'm needed.

Do you enjoy the versatility in your job ?

Yes, that's exactly what I like. I'd been looking for a job for a long time where I could be partly behind a desk, but also have some manual tasks. Before, I was always on my feet, and as the years went by, that became more and more difficult. Now I have a good balance between intellectual and manual work.

What is your career path ? 

I started working in logistics around twenty years ago. I mainly worked as a warehouseman, order picker, logistician and receptionist.

what's the best thing about working here ? 

What I like most is the versatility, mutual support and autonomy. I also like the fact that I'm not constantly alone behind my desk. I like to be called upon from time to time and to have discussions with my colleagues.

What's your typical day like at DEMGY ?

A typical day consists of preparing production orders, but it's never set in stone. I adapt according to requests and incoming goods.

What do you like about your job ? 

I like being able to work without pressure, at a normal pace, which allows me to get things right first time. I'm given time to do my job properly.
