Joaquim Sampaio
Quality controller
Qualität, Sicherheit und Umwelt (QSU) DEMGY Paris - Clamart (92)
Here we have highly qualified professionals with a wealth of experience.
What has been your career path at DEMGY ?
I was a mechanical turner, working on machines. At the time, there was no quality control, but positions were created and I was given the opportunity to become a quality controller, a position I've held for the past 40 years. I'm responsible for the quality of the parts produced, their measurement, shipping, packaging and cleanliness. I make the final decision on part conformity. If a part isn't right, it goes back to the workshop for correction, otherwise it's scrapped. I also take care of control files and communicate with our customers on quality.
What's the best thing about working at DEMGY ?
What I like is meeting people, exchanging ideas and solving problems, especially mechanical and technological ones. Before becoming a controller, I was a technician. Today, I'm a metrologist, and I prefer solving metrology and manufacturing problems, and constantly seeking to improve our processes.
Tell me about a typical day
It's a question of proving the conformity of parts to our customers with official documents. I carry out sampling checks, verifying material specifications. If the parts conform, they are released; if not, they are returned to the workshop for correction. If a problem recurs, we have to put procedures in place to avoid it.
What do you like about your job ?
I enjoy the camaraderie and mutual support between colleagues. I also like new technologies, new software and new equipment for machining and working. Working in aeronautics, space and defense really motivates me.
In 3 words, how would you describe DEMGY ?
I'd say camaraderie, high-end, and innovation.
What message would you like to pass on to people applying for a job at DEMGY?
New technologies and the plastics we use can be motivating, even if they're not taught everywhere. Young people can find these aspects interesting, especially those who like aeronautics, space and the medical field.
