Sandrine VUILLET
Metrologist
Producție DEMGY Frasne - Frasne (25)
My job is complicated, but that's what I like! I like the variety of things I can do during the day, I don't see the hours go by.
Could you tell us a little bit about yourself?
My name is Sandrine, and I’ve been working at DEMGY for 22 years—first at Cegetech, then at DEMGY. My career at the company has been very fulfilling and, above all, marked by continuous growth as opportunities arose.
What has your career path been like at DEMGY?
I started in mechanics, working on a wire-cutting machine, then I worked in the production shop.
After that, I held various positions:
- Parts inspection and packaging,
- Warehouse clerk,
- Return to production after my maternity leave,
- Lathe operator,
- Then, due to an internal need, I joined the Quality Department, where I spent nearly 15 years in quality control.
Since last September 1st, I was offered a new position: metrologist, which I now hold with great pleasure.
What does your role as a metrologist entail?
Metrology is a very diverse field. I work closely with three main departments:
- The Design Office (DO)
I measure parts based on the received drawings to verify their compliance with customer requirements. - Production
I ensure that all tools (gauges, inspection jigs, etc.) are properly calibrated and functional. I also step in to resolve measurement issues and create inspection programs, whether in 3D, via touch probe, or on an OGP optical machine. - Mechanical Engineering
I also handle instrument calibration, manage part inspection files, and maintain documentation.
It’s a technical, demanding, and cross-functional role at the heart of the company’s processes.
What do you like about your job?
My work is complex and sometimes difficult, but I love it. What I love most of all is the variety: No two days are alike. I don’t have time to get bored; I don’t even notice the hours passing. It’s a real joy to come to work, to be surprised every day by the diversity of tasks and challenges to solve.
